Occupancy rates of hotels and guesthouses in Banda Aceh has increased an average of above 50 percent, followed by a main tourism festivals in the city during May 2011.
Secretary of the Union Hotel Restaurant Indonesia (PHRI) of Aceh Province, Zulfikar in Banda Aceh, on Tuesday said more than one thousand hotel rooms and other accommodation (guest house and inn) filled since the end of April 2011.
“Throughout May 2011, various cultural and tourism festival was held as a series of tourism visits Banda Aceh. Conditions that have a positive effect on economic growth of society, particularly those engaged in hotel in this area,” he said.
According to Zulfikar, the comparison before the declaration of “Visit Indonesia Year 2011″ hotel room occupancy rate in Banda Aceh just filled an average of below 30 percent, with the length of stay of one to two days. But this time, the average guest to stay at the hotel was between four to five days.
